Nanjing Turbine & Electric Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd., formerly known as Nanjing Turbine & Electrical Machinery Plant, is located on the north side of the towering Purple Mountain and at the south bank of the beautiful Yangtze River. It was incorporated in January 1956, and restructured into a solely state-owned limited liability company in November 1995, and was further restructured into a joint venture in Ningbo Port in October 2004.
With an area of 425,000 square meters and more than 2000 employees, of whom 25% are technicians and engineers, the company has more than 1700 sets of main manufacturing equipment including 213 sets of large and precision machining tools, such as HBM, NC lathe, NC planer, NC rotor slot miller as well as large test equipment such as gas turbine test stand, generator and large motor test stand, turbine governing system test stand, 100t and 50t high speed dynamic balancing machines and three coordinates measurement instrument, which deliver very strong capability of large and precision machining, inspection and test. The main products of the company include heavy duty gas turbine generating units and gas-steam combined cycle power equipment, co-gen steam turbine generating units, wind-driven generators, large and medium sized motors, which deliver an annual energy output of 10GW.
The company is a nationally assigned heavy-duty gas turbine manufacturing base. Its subordinate gas turbine research institute, originally affiliated to the ministry of machine building, not only undertakes the technical work related to the gas turbine products of the company, but also assumes the technical management for the national gas turbine industry. It is the secretary member unit of the National Gas Turbine Standardization Technology Committee. With a history of 50 years in the production of gas turbines, the company established a partnership in manufacturing 6B gas turbines (40MW) with GE in mid-1980s. In 2004, the company introduced GE’s technologies to manufacture the 9E gas turbines (125MW); and signed the technology import agreement related to the 6FA gas turbines (70MW) with GE in 2012. So far the company has sold nearly a hundred sets of 6B and 9E gas turbines, most of which were used to form efficient and energy-saving gas-steam combined cycle power plants. In addition to fulfilling domestic market needs, products are also exported to Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
The turbines of the company are designed and manufactured with the world-leading full 4D flow technology with the single-machine capacity of 6-330MW, and include more than 160 types such as condensing turbines, extraction turbines, back-pressure turbines and extraction back-pressure turbines. The cycle modes have been developed from simple cycles with medium and high pressure parameters to re-heating cycles with super-high pressure and subcritical parameters. While mainly used in co-gen power stations and combined cycle power stations, our products are also used for recycling and utilization of waste heat and surplus energy in industrial drive, garbage power generation, biomass power generation, iron, metallurgy, chemical engineering, cement and glass industries.
Our generator products are mainly gas turbines, turbines and auxiliary equipment with the single-machine capacity of 6-350MW. After introducing the air-cooling brushless excitation technology from BRUSH in Britain in 1980s, we learned from their cutting-edge experience and combined with other advanced technology to finally independently develop QF, QFW, QFR series as well as the Blast Furnace Top Gas Recovery Turbine Unit (TRT). We also applied the few glue VPI insulation system for all stator bars and the VPI process for all parts of the machine for all of our products to achieve reliable quality and excellent performance. The company boasts a full range of medium- and heave-duty AC motors with the single-machine capacity of 130 - 5000KW and the voltage class of 380, 6000, 10000V. When matched with compressors, water pumps, draught fans and cement machinery, our products are widely applied in mines, steel, petrochemical, cement and hydraulic engineering industries.
The company stepped into the wind power generation field in 2007 and has since been manufacturing wind-driven generator stators for power plants. Afterwards, the company introduced the VEM technology from Germany to produce the 1.5MW-2MW DFIG wind-driven generators. In 2010, the wind-driven generator manufacturing base was completed and launched in Jiangning Science Park with an annual output of more than 1000 wind-driven generators. Crowned as advanced technology, compact structure, safety and reliability, we are now a competent wind-driven generator supplier of GE.
